Are you looking for decorating colours for 2021? Have you ever wondered why you seem to see a certain colour everywhere, from shoes and clothing, to home decor and furnishings? When you are redecorating or just updating your decor, you might want to consider what the Colour of the Year is…
Each year Pantone selects a Colour of the Year, which designers of almost everything take note of.
For over 20 years, Pantone’s Color of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home furnishings, and industrial design, as well as product packaging and graphic design.
The image for this post was taken from the Architectural Digest website’s post on this subject. Yes, even architects and interior designers go to the Colour of the Year when selecting colours for decorating.
We took inspiration from the 2020 Pantone Colour of the Year Classic Blue in designing our logo and corporate colours. It is lucky coincidence that we also chose a grey close to the 2021 Colour of the Year.
So what is Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2021? Well, this year they have broken with tradition and selected TWO colours – Ultimate Grey and Illuminating.
Expect to see these shades of yellow and grey popping up in shops and designs of all types.
To use these colours to update your home, you don’t go all out and colour everything grey and yellow. You might add cushions or vases in these colours, or add throw blankets or trinkets to your bedroom. Yellow flowers in a grey vase would brighten up any room.
You can use these colours outdoors as well. What about grey foliage plants with yellow flowers? Or a splash of colour with grey and yellow outdoor cushions?
Let your imagination roam and have fun choosing your colours for decorating.
